WAMA, Can someone explain why?

Can someone explain why none of the following still have yet to receive any recognition by the Washington Area Music Association: Sonny Warner, Bobby Parker, Little Royal, Curtis Pope, TNT Tribble, Frank Motley, Lloyd Price, Bill Boskent. I mean Lloyd Price's lack of recognition is especially curious given that he was based in DC for several years and during this time set up his own recording label, recorded some of his most important recordings and even had a CD of DC area R&B performers. I mean are the folk in charge of WAMA that ignorant of DC's musical history.

My two-year old comments are still pertinent.

Also, Steve Kiviat's had an interesting write-up of this year's WAMMIEs in his City Paper Blog that is well worth your consideration:

Ron, it is not the washington area blues association. we don't recognize just blues. however you were invited to participate in the board meetings discussing nominations and hall of fame- yet you chose to only vent your same old complaints.

you and the blues society were offered the opportunity to present the blues awards you felt we were lacking but for some reason remained silent.

and now here you go again.

I apologize for posting your comment twice but for some reason I received it twice.

I never said it was the Washington Area Blues Association. However I have no recollection of being invited to any board meetings discussing nominations and the hall of fame. My comments are my views and never have I suggested that they were views of the DC Blues Society. Furthermore, my comments have focused more on the Hall of Fame and not the nominations for WAMMIES.

Does the WAMA Board of Directors really need me to explain why Lloyd Price should be honored. Are they unaware of whom Bill Boskent is. I am supposed to believe the Board members are unaware that the vocalist on the R&B smash hit "There is Something on Your Mind," was a Falls Church native and who was living within walking distance of the State Theatre when he passed. I am not going to rehash Bobby Parker's contributions to the DC music scene.

I gave a list of artists who clearly are as deserving of honoring as others that have been honored. Does the WAMA Board really need to be educated about a substantial portion of DC's musical heritage (especially blues and R&B) that they have not addressed in their Hall of Fame?
